Skiing in powder - it's complete bliss!
Have you ever wanted to have a go in the perfect powder that glistens
outside the area of the marked runs. (If you've been skiing in Sainte
Foy, you will have seen the sea of white that lays perfectly untouched
over the back side of the mountain) . Perhaps you've spotted the
a few zigzagged tracks in the distance? Have you ever been tempted
to ski off-piste, glide through the soft powder, get away from the
hustle and bustle of the resort
.Here's your chance!
Next season we are offering an 'Introduction to Off-Piste Skiing/Snowboarding
Clinic' dates to be announced.
We have designed this week for good skiers and snowboarders who
would like to explore the mountain beyond the marked runs, develop
their off-piste technique and expand their knowledge about backcountry
mountain safety. This week is for those of you who would like to
take their skiing or riding to the next level as well as out of
the boundaries of the marked runs.
Ski area: Sainte Foy is renowned for its off-piste possibilities.
What most people don't realise is that it is a great place to learn
to ski or ride off-piste. There are open gentle descents (the equivalent
gradient to a blue run) where you can experience skiing or snowboarding
in powder, gain confidence and improve your technique, all supervised
by a qualified instructor/guide. There is very large undeveloped
area - most of which is accessible by the lifts and short hikes.
Within minutes you are in the middle of nowhere - no other people,
no lifts, just silent glistening snow!
Welcome to Sainte Foy. Welcome to the best kept secret in France!
Skill level: You must be a confident skier or snowboarder.
You should be capable on red runs in any condition. No prior backcountry
experience is required. You must have less than 7 full days off
piste experience prior to arrival. We will have a good chat with
participants when they book to try to make sure the everyone is
of a similar level.
Fitness: This week is designed for adventurous people who
are in good physical condition. You should have ample stamina and
be reasonably fit. Some routes require some walking/ hiking to access
entry points. You will get much more out of the week if you are
in good physical condition and are active in your day to day routine.
The week includes the following:
· 5 full days of off-piste guiding and technical instruction
including avalanche awareness and transceiver training
· Seven nights accommodation in Chalet Nicole
· Breakfast and afternoon tea each day
· Six 3-course evening meals including unlimited wine
